YOU'RE THE BEST AND I LOVE YOU!!! ♥

--

Next, HAPPY BIRTHDAY, TSUBASA!!! I LOVE YOU!!! ♥

It's amazing to see how you've changed and grown up dramatically during these few years since I've become your fan. I wish you all the happiness on earth along with all success in everything you work for. Because you deserve it all.

Follow your dreams, and we will always support you.

Thank you, Tsubasa, thank you for being you~

(And Thank you, Takki, for being there to celebrate this special day! Your appearance made us all happy, not just the birthday boy! xD)

1024 x 768
1280 x 1024

No excuse, I seriously ran out of time, so I didn't get to clean his back properly x__x (besides licking it, of course...) But the nakedness itself should make up for all these scanning flaws~

Oh well, you know me, as always, I could not leave Takki out! LOL (and when it Takki's turn, I can never leave Tsu out as well! XD)

Enjoy~

--

Weeeheeee! I finally completed my travelogue for another trip to Japan in 2007!

When I first told people about this trip, everyone asked me why I would want to go to Japan when there's no T&T activities. A-san, I-san and T-chan were the answer ^^ (plus it's a proof that I do have a life! XDD) We joined force once again to create a fun-filled, super crack time together. It was superb!! And I escaped from being hit by a bunch of dried branches, kudos to the weird weather this year. LOL

Thanks girls, for such a wonderful memory! I hope to see you all again soon! m(_ _)m

Typically lots of photos in each post, proceed with caution!

--

Day 1-2: On the run, once again!

Day 3: Toyota City, Nagoya

Day 4: Nara

Day 5: Kyoto

Day 6: Himeji Castle

Day 7: Miyajima

Day 8: Mt. And of course, I couldn't leave Tsubasa out! ^^

Personally, I don't think the big one works very well if you have lots of icons on your desktop. My recommendation is to use the small one and set background color to black.

Also, I'm trying something new this time. In case anyone wants to see my photoshop messy WIP xD I actually think this version is much cleaner, with lots more space for desktop icons.

Just something different :)

[[1024 x 768 and 1280 x 1024 of photoshop mess]]

--

[Wallpaper] Takki - Serene
1024 x 768 :: 1280 x 1024

1024 x 768 :: 1280 x 1024

If you think I can stay away from this picture, you don't know me at all! XD

It's my most favorite shot from Takki's set of this year calendar. I'm completely in love with it. How could I not? Tono in monochrome! Tono's abs!!!! Tono in white pants! Tono was spreading his legs wide open when wearing white pants, to be exact!!! LOL Of course, you should be used to this perverted part of my brain by now~ XD

The atmosphere was so calm and peaceful, and if you look a bit further, I'd say, lonely even. Great composition. Natural. Simple. Beautiful.

For a second, I thought he was an elf sailing off to the Undying Land. (then I screamed: OH CRAP! COME BACK TAKKI!!! XD)

Anyway, it's pretty tricky to recreate the rest of the water. I've tried various techniques, but 2.5 hours later, I just gave up and threw in some layers to conceal my patchworks. LOL Also, I started off with fancy fonts and a lot more texts, but changed my mind and decided to keep it simple instead. 2 versions of the same thing as I obviously couldn't decide on the colors. ^^

--

Unresized

Rotate

B&W

Mirror

Double

Recolor

Whole Image

Stock

Original

Not Square

 --

Please do not edit or repost any part of wallpapers or icons.
Textless icons are not bases.

Comment = Love ^^
--

I was about to start working on my travelogue for my recent trip to Japan in November when I realized, I haven't finished the one from May yet! *LOL* I took a look at all the photos and winced miserably since I've switched back from Nikon to Fuji camera about a month prior to my trip and haven't really had time to play with it yet. The result was disastrous. I didn't know how to handle my F31FD properly, most photos came out just short of a full blast nightmare .... *SCREAMS* T____T

Anyway, they represented my experience, so heck, why not?!
A few days ago, my sister sent me a link to one google video, she said it was highly recommended.

Professor Pausch gave his last lecture on September 18, 2007 on "how to achieve your childhood dreams".

It absolutely was one of the most inspiring and touching speeches I've seen/heard in years. If you have time (about 1hr 25 mins), I really really recommend this one. Just watch the entire thing and you'll understand the reason why.

<lj-embed id="9" />

Full version with ending speeches (1hr 44 mins) [Here]

Prof. Pausch's Home Page [Here]

Btw, you'll probably need a box of kleenex, so please have them ready.

--

Otsukaresama deshita!!!

I had a chance (biggest thanks to wribbit and dorothy) to stay up and watch pretty much the entire thing (minus 1 dinner, 2 showers, and 2 naps - the 2nd nap was unexpected because the show was actually longer than 24hours! starting from 2:30am Saturday morning, and ended around 5:30am Sunday morning - I guess that would make a 24-hour show once we take out all commercials XDD) and what else could I say? I was crying like there was no tomorrow almost the entire day.

They've raised more than 360million yen last night. And if my memory served me right, they beat last year numbers. Now I'm curious about viewership rating thing.

Takitsuba looked amazingly gorgeous throughout the entire show! while I recalled watching 2006 main personalities *coughs* looked like a pack of zombies after probably the 15th hours. :P Maybe it's because Takki and Tsubasa are consistently overworking themselves? So being up and alert for 24+++ hours are normal for them? Plus I believe being together is such a great energy source for them ne~ ^__^ sugoi!!

It's such an incredibly great and touching show ne.

(not in order, just my random thoughts)

Their visuals were perfect!! Takki looks very genki and healthy (thank god), bright and radiant (and not too pale) as ever. Tsubasa had his hair cut and he's OMG CUTE! (yes! not just cute, it's OMG CUTE!!! XDD)

And I love when they looked at each other and smiled~ either directly or when they're separated, that tiny little bottom right box showed the way they watched each other, which was really sweet. ^_____^

Following Kin-chan all the way from the beginning pained my heart, seeing how hard he tried. What a fighting spirit in this 66 years old man, he's been running/walking all day long T__T He could barely walk towards the end, for crying out loud T____T He was behind schedule, so at 8:54pm Japan time, they cut to the commercials *MEANIES*, but thank goodness NTV finally brought us back, live, when Kin-chan had actually reached the budokan. I was in tears. Kin-chan cried before getting inside the budokan because people chanting his name so loud. And when he got inside, he was crying. T____T I was so afraid that he's going to fall down the stairs with his shaky legs T__T but he finally walked down and crossed the finish line. Kin-chan hugged T&T at the same time! Tsu pulled him a chair to sit on, but Kin-chan chose to stand, maybe afraid he couldn't get up if he did sit down...

The Kin-chan picture wall was sugoiiiiii! consisted of 3000+ photos(?) It really was amazing ne~ ^___^

I think Takitsuba did try so hard to stay composed during the show, they tried not to be emotional, most of the time by putting up their serious faces. Quite a determination ne~ ...

Ikuyo-san's story from the very beginning was really touching, how she could find that courage to go visit her friends and love ones to say goodbyes without letting them know the truth... with smiles. T____T Akikawa Masafumi who sang the song "Sen no Kaze ni natte" reminded me of Josh Groban, the singer of "To Where You Are" that makes me cry every single time I listen to it. I was sniffing even I didn't understand the meaning of the song, and when Ling and A-san translated a portion of the song for me, I was weeping non stop (what a great start T___T)

One of the cutest moments has to be the hot tub, where do-S Tsubasa basically pushed innocent M Takki in and jumped in after him LOL so cute! Did he intentionally push Takki or did he actually lose his balance? xD Anyway, they scrambled out right away. Falling face first, Takki was completely soaking wet. Tsu, on the other hand, was only half wet from his waist down, but the cutest thing was when he shoved some ice into his pants and rubbed his butt! ROFL sooooooo incredibly cute!

The sp drama was sad, really really sad and touching. The father and son relationship. Their promise. I couldn't count how many times I cried while watching T_____T just looking at screencaps made me tear up already. When they brought in the boy's parent to the studio later on Sunday morning and showed us the story about Naoya's life, I couldn't stop bawling. He was such an amazing kid na. T__T Takki was incredibly amazing in this drama, he nailed his papa role as well as Kyoko who got the mama role down nicely!! *thumbs up*

Yuuki no Katachi is such a nice song! The song is really catchy, I love it! And I love how singers got to change the lyrics!! Takki and Tsubasa finally sang their own lines about each other at the end of the show. Oh, and Sarai sounded much better live in the budokan XD when I first heard it during the first promo of the show, the song scared me off a little bit LOL

Dance Dance Revolution.. no I mean the dance competition was nice too! I really enjoy watching it ^^ They really were amazing na.

T&T eagerly doing the YMCA dance was so hilarious! especially Tsu! XDD *pinches*

Tsu in shorts! Tsu in baseball uniform! kyaaaaaaa Tsubasa, how could you be this cute?! *pinches more* too bad she struck him out LOL I love how Takki in the tiny screen watching his aikata with his bright smile ^^

Takki in kimono! weeeeeheeeee *fangirls* He looked sooooooo good! When those people kept calling him 'Takki~ Takki~' and he ran out with those futons, soooo cute!! kyaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa~~

There was a story, of a very old ojiisan. I missed the first part a little bit, but I think he was separated from his wife(?) during WW2, being captured by Russian(?) as they believed he's a spy or something. They finally released him after 50+ years and all along, she was waiting for him. The scene at the train station made me cry so hard. They finally got to be together. His wife has passed away, but they've got to live happily together for 10 years. T____T The train station scene where they reunion-ed killed me.

I need another box of kleenex =__=

Watching the show for more than 24 hours, I really now think that both yellow and red t-shirts look great!, power of forceful marketing LOL edit: and thank goodness I didn't see them holding the 24hr tv mascot dolls because I didn't order them! XDD

Koki and Shoya-kun, the boy with FOP whom he taught how swim last year, their story was touching too. I think his condition is actually getting worse(?), but he looks so strong and lively. Another fighting spirit. T___T And it's amazing how that Giants dude Abe-san almost got a homerun! It's like only a few feet short! >__<"" He landed a double instead. Then popped/fouled out the next 2 at-bats.

Miho-chan(?), the girl who drew those pictures T___T "Tsubasa wo Kudasai" T____T

My favorite guest was probably Takki's childhood hero, Inoki-san, who showed up and slapped both Takki and Tsubasa to ground. Ouch, being an M, Takki was probably used to this by now but let me look at the princess' cheek! it was a very loud slap +__+ They're both so cute, eagerly bowing and bowing and bowing to Inoki-san. A-san said Takki is definitely an M, he was all happy and smiling after being slapped XDD (actually both of them looked very happy, maybe they needed that to stay awake?! LOL)

Save the best for last, the moment where their lives changed, followed by a letter from Tsubasa to Takki. I've been waiting all day/night for this moment. Both Ling and A-san told me to be realistic as there wouldn't be one for them, but I was stubborn and kept on hoping (and whining every single time where the letter reading wasn't theirs). Kamisama finally granted my wish! That <strike>too</strike> super short video was interesting, but I forgot it all once Tsu started reading his letter. *hugs Tsubasa* He had been successfully fighting his tears throughout the show, so when he paused his reading and teared up, I cried my eyeballs out. I saw Takki looked his way and started leaning towards him when Tsubasa gathered himself and finished reading his letter with a bullet train speed. I think he probably couldn't make it through had he not read it all in one go like that ne. I'm pretty sure Takki was trying so hard not to let anyone see his emotions. It was so touching. So much love and caring thoughts between them. *sniffs*

Thank you NTV for giving T&T a shot at the main personality roles.

Thank you T&T, Kin-chan, and all other personalities and staffs for their hard work to make this day possible.

Thank you T&T for giving us such a wonderful time. You guys are better than amphetamine! You made us all happy, and your love really does save the world. You really are the best!!

THANK YOU TAKITSUBA! I LOVE YOU!

--

[screencaps] SP drama: Kimi ga Kureta Natsu

One of the most touching drama I've seen in years.

BTW, I'm not sure what's the correct drama title XD I made the above banner with "Ganbareba, shiawase ni nareru yo" but as I uploaded it, I recalled reading on Nere's site that the title was changed to "Gan to tatakatta musuko no 730-hi" ^^" *confused*

Warnings: screencaps and spoilers behind cut. DO NOT proceed if you want to watch it by yourself first ^^

All screencaps are for viewing pleasure only. Do not crop/chop/edit/repost them anywhere without my permission.

Father-son/daughter is my weak point to begin with. So, no surprise when cried my eyes out watching it this morning. T______T

Their son, Nao-kun, is such a considerate boy. He really did leave a huge impact on people around him. His love for his family is so touching. He was a real fighter.

*fangirls* Takki looks soooooooooooooooooooooooooooo good! no matter how weird his pants look! XDD He's such a baka dad at the beginning, but he changed, because of Nao. T__T He was so emotional in this drama. Once again, his eyes conveyed so many feeling inside. When I saw his tears, I was dead on spot. OMG, not again, he hit right smack on my weakness T____T It pained my heart seeing Takki, a father, crying uncontrollably like that as there's nothing he could possibly do to save his son's life.

I really love the father-son chemistry between them. I have no doubt why the boy(s) love him so much. I totally love how his character chose to keep the promise they made T____T (crap! thinking about it makes me cry again T_____T)

Kyoko! I love her! wow, she nailed the role ne as mother and wife! Her character was sooo strong! I really love how this character chose to tell their son the truth from the beginning about his illness,

Whenever I saw Nao-kun made peace sign, that mini 'v' with his small hand.... ganbare na ganbare. T____T Even though he was sick soooo bad, he still cheered people around him up. What a willpower, what a fighting spirit in this little boy. T___T

Yakusoku.... had Takki's solo from Samurai single told story about butterfly...."Butterfly's song", it'd have tied perfectly with this drama....

...

--
Alright, I was very upset yesterday and I'm still pretty upset today. So I need to get something off my chest.

I really didn't want it to come to this, it's not in my nature... but enough is enough.

I usually enjoy working with Photoshop, especially when it's T&T related, but in times like this, I just want to call it quits...

I spent a lot of time and energy and love on each and every single one of my artworks. So when someone just came around and shamelessly stole them, why shouldn't I be mad?! I shouldn't even have to deal with this low moral issue to begin with if someone could just be at least one bit considerate.

If you've seen this 160x160 pix before, you'd probably have an idea by now what's driving me insane.

The drama is under the cut for the sake of friends page even though I seriously want to rant about it out loud..as loud as I could, to be exact.

Ok, here goes. I made this 'seductive' icon to be my default avatar at T&T forum back when i posted Takki 10 variation icons there. I guess 10 icons are not enough for someone, since she obviously grabbed my default icon too.

By pure luck(?), yesterday I happened to click on one link that brought me to her blog, and my temper went through the roof on spot. Yes, WTF?! AGAIN?!

A little background here: In August 2006, she stole my LJ default icon before, but I was too naive back then that I just politely asked her to take it off, damn, I should have made a screencap for an evidence. Later on, she mentioned about it on one of the email she sent me (since I was stupid enough to agree to work on a banner for her, but that wasn't the point here).

The point is: what made she think she'd get away this time?!

Furious beyond repair, I posted a short message on that chatbox, and then sent her a long email making her realize how pissed I was:

*****

IT'S MINE! NOT YOURS!

I AM TOTALLY PISSED!

remove MY userpic from your site promptly.

I couldn't believe it. YOU SHOULDN'T BE STEALING MY USERPICS LIKE THIS. YOU DID IT ONCE BEFORE WITH MY APPLE ICON, AND YOU DID IT AGAIN!!! DAMN IT REIKO, WHAT'S WRONG WITH YOU?! saving people's userpic and post it up like this?! NO!!! THIS IS NOT ACCEPTABLE!!

see if this can jog your memory: http://community.livejournal.com/takkidaily/33629.html.

want me to dig up an email where you apologize to me about using my icon too? huh?! i sure can do!

Yea, my other username (besides Reiko) I use is akatsuru01. Btw, sooo sorry for the time I accidently used one of your icons w/out asking. (rem that incident long ago back in Ho!Summer time?) If you dun remember, I do. I felt sooo bad and I'm NOT that type of person. I guess I thot that no one would notice (or mind) but at the time, I was still 'new' to blogs n'stuff. So, I never knew proper etiquette when it came to blogging and snagging icons. Gomenasai! -_-

what an excuse, huh?! not that type of person? no one would notice or mind?! Guess what?! YOU DID IT AGAIN!!! WTF!! if you want an icon/banner/or whatever, make it yourself! don't just grab mine!! You're no longer NEW to the blogging world, you know how this works by now, you have no rights to touch/use other's icons unless they share them! Same goes for MINE!

I give you til tonight 8/14, if it's still there, i'll bitch i'll rant about it for sure!

TAKE IT OFF! and don't ever touch my icons again!

*****

I sounded like an ass on my email, but I don't care. I have every damn rights to be angry. To me, this is a real slap in the face.

Oh and guess what? As expected, she removed that icon this morning (8/15) without a single apology, didn't reply my email, and took me off her f-list which actually did me a favor as I don't want to be friended with her anymore.

I love making graphics and want to share them to the T&T fandom, but this shamelessly steal crap pissed me off.

--

For once in my life, I got T&T single on the released date! No fighting with EMS and USPS this time, what a nice feeling coming home to see a BOX instead of that orange 'we've missed you' slip. LOL ^____^

My first reaction: ehhhh?! How come the box is so small?! I thought it's going to be a poster?! LOL oh well, there IS a poster, folded neatly inside jacket C cd! Thank you Avex! You saved HMV some work!! *whacks*

As usual, I opened jacket C first! I decided to press my luck this time and ordered both jacket Cs from CDJapan. YES YES YES!! Thank goodness I did that! Look! Look!! I got both Takki and Tsubasa card! Yippy!!!! ^_____^ ((urrr, wait a second, does it mean I have to hunt down unit card now? oops~ +__+)

Jacket A: LOL, oh so, the Jedi pose and Tsu's calf isn't really a jacket cover eh? It's a glossy thing that wraps around the CD. The CD itself is the moon (while the DVD is classic black with white fonts), I feel like transforming~ *RARRRRWWWW* LOL The back of the CD is nice, I really like Takki's pose here, but I still think it'd be better if they held hands. *runs* oh, btw, Tsu's leg hair isn't very obvious, I think wribbit would be happy XDD

Jacket B: I like the front jacket to begin with (well, except for those silly spotlights behind them, of course), since I think both T&T looked very nice here. Back jacket was a little goofy with those 7 spotlights. Tsu's sword turned into a short litesaber too, too much PS work, I'd say. LOL but oh well, it didn't really matter because the insert is super cool! Those shots were really nice!!! *__* This time black CD and white DVD.

Jacket C: The close-up!! ^___^ and I love the back jacket!!! It looks a little blurry, I think, but nice nonetheless. Inside, PINK! OMG, I'd never associate samurai with pink color but Avex did! bery bery pinku desu! xD The lighting on that pink background was really odd, it made them look .. dark? ^^" Anyway, those pictures with dark background on the other side were much nicer. ^^ Oiiii, Takizawa Hideaki, the way your left hand held the sword will kill me someday *___* The CD case came in a paper box along with that double-sided poster that Avex folded into tiny little pieces DUH!! >__<"

Overall, I think I like jacket B most, but C came in quite close too ^^

BTW, Avex cracked me up with that red sticker on the shrink wrap
"TACKEY & TSUBASA SAMURAI MUTATION!!"
WTF!! LOL

.....

Samurai - Live version Music clip: is basically the PV without the armor dude ^^ I couldn't stop drooling as expected.

Off shot: This one is a REAL killer! OMG OMG OMG!!!! Sooooo cute and kakkoii and LOVE!!! OMG OMG OMG!!!! *lost in heaven* so many nice moments! Those smiles!! KYAAAAA!!! Tsu! Backbone! xDD Tsu looking at Takki ♥ Tsu's yummy chest! Takki was such an adorable dork! He's really playful here. The super cute lip balm part got me sqeeeeee to Antarctica XD BTW, they need a "caution, slippery surface" there during the fight scene -"-. Takki tried to whack the samurai dude after 'cut!' was hilarious. Oooohhhh, the ending solo shots, Tsu was so yummy and Takki with his sword will be the end of me LOL More!! I want more!! This is too short!!!!!

Solo Songs/PVs: I like Tsu's World('s) Wing PV more ^^ Love the simplicity of it, so very Tsu-ish! (and love his hair! xD). Tsu was simply gorgeous *___* As much as I enjoy watching Takki triplets, I'd prefer only one original Takki walking in natural light (and without a hat LOL).

BTW, if they're going to keep walking like this, their solo PVs should end with them walking towards a corner or a crosswalk <strike>or a bedroom door</strike>, meeting each other. Faith leads them there, of course ^__^

As for the solo songs, I prefer Takki's Flower(')s Song ^^ really like the arrangement for this song ne~ It's the type of music that I can keep repeating on my ipod for days XD

Himegoto: oooh I love this song! Very catchy. I like how their voices blended together ^__^ Once again, I think it has an OST touch to the music. Just me, maybe LOL (a lot of songs sound OST to me lately xD)

...

Definitely a very nice single! I LOVE IT!!!
Takitsuba, thank you for your hard work on this single ne~ ^___^

--

Got home late last night from the whale watching/kayaking trip. And oh, throw camping in the rain on top of that. What a weekend! XDD

<lj-embed id="5" />

My co-worker came up with this idea a few months ago, we (5 of us) signed up for the class through a community college, so we didn't have to pay for it LOL When I first registered for this class, I didn't even know it was an overnight trip XD Next thing I realized, oh, we had to sleep in a tent? oh well. And when I got the itinerary in the mail, I was like.. hmmm they didn't tell us to bring a towel? Does it mean no shower? OH NO T__T

I know I know. I sound like a whiner, which of course, I am LOL But come on! For a girl who takes a shower twice everyday, no shower is almost equal to a death penalty!! -"-

Seattle weather was so nice and bright and hot during the past several weeks. Until right before my trip, it's all rainy and cold again, bummer!~

So, we carpooled up north, took a ferry to San Juan Islands on Saturday. Very gloomy weather as you can see T__T

An hour and a half later, we arrived at Friday Harbor. After walking around like good lost tourists, while waiting for our van, here's what I saw....

A guy with a broken leg being carried out of that bed thing... very encouraging, indeed +___+"

About 30 minutes later, the van took us to San Juan County Park where we'd be spending our adventurous weekend! ^^" There were 10 students with 1 instructor, 1 co-instructor and 1 co-instructor's husband all together for our group. We haven't got to set up our camp because the previous campers asked for late check-out (man, was this a hotel or what?! LOL), so we went out on the water around noon after a brief instructions on how to survive on the kayak. May I add that those gears made us look at least 20lbs fatter/heavier? LOL

We first went south as our instructor heard it on the radio that the whales were spotted that way. Kayaking was fun for the first hour, we practiced a lot of useful things. But then we got bored. My friends and I kept saying that if we didn't see any whales, we should ask for money back LOL (yes yes, even when we didn't pay for this trip LOL here we go, finance people! XDD) We took a short break at Deadman Bay(?), then went out on the water again!

We finally saw the first whale on our way back to the camp, after paddling for more than 2.5 hours! ooooohhhhh ahhhhhh! kyaaaaa!! LOL I did try taking pictures but you know how it works. These whales are not those in SeaWorld where they come up to show themselves to the crowd. They were fast! LOL So after several failed attempts, I switched to a video mode instead ^^

One of my friends cracked me up, she kept saying... Jump! Jump! XDD These whales were no Free Willy yo!! LOL

A crazy thing about whale watching is that you'd have to raft up whenever you've come closed to the whale, or the whale came close to you, whichever happened first. So, basically, when the instructor said 'Raft up!!', we had to paddle to stick together as a pack, and stay there until the whale changed it's direction or went passed us. That's the drill.

The first few raft-ups were fun, everyone excitedly paddled to the front kayak, and stayed together while oooohhhh-ing ahhhhhhh-ing about the whales. BUT, whenever you stayed still like that, the current took you back where you came from which was not the direction you wanted to go!! >__<"

And we rafted up for 8-9 times! At one point, some of us started whining that we'd never get back to our camp, so I told them that, this is a twilight zone! xD We would paddle up till we saw the lighthouse, then rafted-up!, then the current took us, then paddled more to get closer to the lighthouse, then rafted-up, then back to the previous spot, more paddling, rafted up, this time not even see the lighthouse T___T see, all these painful moments took away the fun of whale watching!! XDD ok ok, I'm kidding, it's still fun!

We saw 15-16 whales, according to our instructor. Though I was curious, how could she know if they're not the same ones? Like, weren't these whales circling around? And maybe there are only 5-6 of them? LOL I hope not, though~ ^___^

Anyhow, we managed to paddle back to our starting point. It turned out that we went kayaking for almost six hours!! By the time we reached the shore, I no longer felt my arms, where were they?! LOL

Setting up tents when your arms were not really moving was a PAIN! ouch! ouch! I haven't done this in the past .. what.. so many years! *girl scout moments* XDDD

Supposedly, the guide should prepare dinner for us. Reality, my friend and I were the one cooking! These people were sooooooo slow, looking at them cutting ingredients, we'd probably get to eat dinner around midnight! Plus, they didn't really know what or how to cook the dish. My friend and I were starving to death by that point. Thank goodness for Goldfish®.

So, we took over the stove and threw everything into the pan (after asking repeatedly for instructions but got no reply). Salmon fettucini alfredo my @$$! There was no cream sauce -___- I basically made something up. It's so funny when people went O_O seeing I poured sugar and squeezed some lime juice into the pan XDD Sorry guys, it's Thai style yo!

And we washed dishes too. Oiii +__+ I really have to say, it's an Asian thing! (And we didn't understand why didn't we used paper plates and plastic utensils so we didn't have to wash these stuff? bleh.) I think we should send our instructor an invoice for our labor hours!)

After dinner, we literally passed out. (oh after brushing my teeth and washing my face! and wiping my butt with Charmin® Fresh Mates. I swear, this thing saved my life! LOL what? TMI? *giggles* My friend said that she rolled over me in that tent during the night, but I didn't recall anything xD ZzzZZZZzzzzzZzzz

We were thinking about bailing out the next day but finally went out on the water again. WRONG IDEA!!!

I got seasick, not a terribly bad one, but still gave me a bad headache, and goofy feeling in my tummy (T___T)v Luckily, one of my friends had Dramamine with her, so I downed one while we're still on the kayak, which resulted in me being a sleepy head for the rest of the day =__=

The taxi lady came to pick us up around 3pm, dropped us off at the same spot she found us on Saturday. We had a quick dinner (discounted waiting time), followed by some ice cream (yes it's cold and windy and raining, but who could say no to ice cream? not me! LOL). Waiting in line for a while to finally get back on the ferry and pass out for the second time in two days~

So, that's pretty much it for this trip!

ja ne~

--

--

LOL

Round 1: going with lilybrie and my non LJ friend, the weather was terrible almost throughout our 1.5 hours drive up north to Skagit Valley. However, it turned out to be such a lovely day when we arrived there, lucky~

Round 2: a week later, taking friends from Thailand who came to visit there, sunny day, they loved it, mission accomplished! ^__^ First day with my new camera too!

Last year I complained about gloomy weather and rain when I went there. This year, I've come to my conclusion, I like gloomy weather better when it comes to taking pictures at the Tulip Festival. I think the vast field of tulips looks too bright when it's sunny, they looked.. plastic? XDD well, just me, maybe ^^"

Alright, here goes, my favorite shots from this year festival~

--

Surprise!! I haven't forgot about my trip back home last year! It was one of the grand celebrations being hosted by the Royal Thai Government in honor of King Bhumibol, the world’s longest reigning monarch.

The Ratchaphruek or Golden Shower Tree is the national flower of Thailand. It is also named "Khoon" or "Chaiyaphruek". The reason that the Ratchaphruek is used to symbolize the nation lies in color: its yellow blossoms match the yellow of Buddhism; furthermore, the Thai people regard yellow as the color of the King as well. Moreover, all golden shower trees bloom at the same time; this unity in flowering is felt to reflect the unity and identity of Thais.

(The official site is dead, so I snatched the info from wikipedia LOL)

Warning: long post with 60+ photos behind cut, I've put them in a large thumbnail size, but it'd probably still take quite a while to load, so proceed with caution and enjoy the flowers~

Chiang Mai, Thailand
November 2-4, 2006

I've heard about this flower expo before I went back to Thailand but didn't really plan to visit Chiang Mai (for the 3rd time in 3 consecutive years) in the first place since I knew that all hotels are fully booked 3-4 months prior to this exhibition. Anyhow, after talking to my friend who's currently a professor at Chiang Mai University, she basically told me to get on the plane, and I did LOL

I arrived at Chiang Mai late in the afternoon, so my friend just picked me up from the airport and drove straight to the shuttle bus stop. It took us almost an hour to finally enter the festival area. The place was HUGE, crowded, and divided into far too many zones for us to explore. When we got there, it's very very late afternoon, and the sun was about to say bye-bye for the day -___- We looked at the map, circled some highlights, and started walking! (well, there's a tram, bus, and other kinds of transit provided within the facility, but we decided to walk as it's easier for us to go and change directions along the way ^^)

The main entrance and guest service center area were decorated with tons of flowers (of course, it's a flower expo, duh!! LOL). Some decorations reminded me of Halloween (with giant pumpkins). From there, we walked to the right to visit some Corporate Gardens (aka, they paid a huge amount of $$ to be here as event sponsors LOL) That golden sculpture was from Boonrawd Garden, the proud owner/brewer/seller/etc-er of Singha, original Thai beer ^^

It's getting darker quite fast, so we decided to walk around for a little bit, before going to Ratchaphruek Lake to watch the Water Show, "Mother's Son - Father of the Kingdom" -- a story of our King's life. The show was pretty, but unfortunately, my poor camera couldn't capture anything *pouts*

After that, we went to see the so called "Splendid Electric Parade", I couldn't even hold my camera still, darn splendid LOLok, let's say, think about a Disney's Parade, then take out all neat gadgets, electronics, lights, costumes, and everything LOL we almost died laughing when we saw the first car came out xD Very urban style *giggles*

The highlight of this entire festival is the "Royal Pavilion" (Hor Kham Luang), the artistic design of the Lanna architecture. The ground floor displays His Majesty the King's initiatives and activities focusing on the agricultural projects. The upper floor displays the decorative works created by the renowned artists.Bhodi Tree for the King (bottom left) was one of the way for the visitors to pay homage to His Majesty the King of Thailand, by donating 99 baht (approx $3) for one Bhodi leave made of brass. The weather was sooooooooooooooo HOT! *is dehydrated* Royal Agricultural Project was very interesting though. There's a lot of neat ideas and projects to help Thai farmers improve their products. There's even a tiny strawberry, which is incredible considering how hot it is in Thailand~ xDWe walked around International Garden area. Japan won the 1st prize for the opening week with Japanese style garden settings (and a huge Sony flat screen TV showing a story of Mt. Fuji *grumbles*)

Before going to the expo, I told my friend that I want to visit Netherlands garden most because I wanted to see tulips. She whacked me on my head, and reminded me that I just went to a tulip festival in Washington back in April 2006, which was quite true, huh? LOL Anyway, here's the Netherlands' spot. They needed that big white shade thing for these tiny tulips during the day! XDDD and by Day#12 of this festival, they had to changed from tulips to some other flowers, since all tulips were dead from the heat ^^"sidenotes: my camera T___T I'm not sure who dropped it between my friend and I, as she was handing it back to me, and I was reaching out for it, we both touched it at the same time, but the next thing we knew, it's on the ground with a big *thuds* and the battery just flew right out of it's socket T___T

Aha! Time for the highlight!! We're back at the Royal Pavilion again ^___^The main and most attractive feature of Hor Kham Luang is the Borombothisomparn (The Bodhi Tree for the King) which is constructed in clusters of lotus blossoms. Nine blossoms per cluster, the clusters arranged in turn, in bundles of nine clusters each. Bodhi leaves of copper, silver and gold were attached to the tree, and by the time this exposition ends, there will be a total of 21,915 leaves -- the number of days of His Majesty the King has been on the throne. Each Bodhi leaf was crafted on of the Ten Royal Virtues -- guidelines based on the teachings of the Lord Buddha that have been observed by Thai kings for generations. These virtues are meant to bring about good and just government, and include integrity, sacrifice, compassion and kindness -- which His Majesty has exhibited in ruling His subjects for the whole of His 60 years on the throne.

Four bundles at the lowest level of copper-colored, signifying the early period of His Majesty's reign; the period when he first began to develop and implement his ideas of advancing the Thai way of life and of improving the quality of the forests, the soil and the water.Four bundles at the middle level, in gold, representing the progress of the royal projects that benefited the Thai people, especially in the agricultural sector.

A single bundle on the top of the tree, in white silver, the color of platinum, the purest and the most precious element on earth, symbolizing the present era of His Majesty the King, his virtue, brilliance and intelligence, and his 60 years of fostering the most prosperous growth in the Thai nation's history.

On all walls were drawings of His Majesty's activities throughout these years.

There are a lot of great artists involved in this project. I think Australia loaned this one to us.

I really enjoyed this walking tour as our guides (one expert and 6-7 volunteer students) told us a lot of stories. They're really nice and friendly too. Plus I did learn a lot during this 3 hours walk. One of the thing I learned is there are two types of lotus! BuaLuang and BuaSai. Well, actually know about these 2 types, but I'd never known how to tell which is which ^^"

(Bua = Lotus)

And to my surprise, they are so easy to tell!! By looking at its leaf~If the lotus leaf is above the water, that lotus is BuaLuang. If the leaf is at the water level, it's BuaSai. Pretty simple, huh? xD

So here goes, the above pic is BuaSai, and the one on the left is BuaLuang ^___^

The tour basically ended at the Lotus garden, but our tour guides loved us so much (because we're the only two who asked questions =__=, the rest of the tour group just walked and walked and some just walked away -__-"), so they decided to walk us around a little bit more *feet are crying* LOL Too bad, we walked passed the "Flower Carpet" as they wanted us to see the best spot to view the Royal Pavilion. We also stopped at the Thai Village and Cultural Bazaar for a little bit to see traditional lifestyle from four regional parts of Thailand. There were also shows and demonstrations of urban things like making Thai sweets, herbal tea, etc. ^^

Climbing up a long flight of stairs, we finally reach the spot they wanted us to see. Ahhhh! It really was the BEST spot!! I can see the pavilion without any obstruction *squeeeee* I love it so much!! I can see the overview of this expo from this point. Also from here, if we looked down to the east side, we could see a lot of trees planted on several squares. At first I didn't know what they are, so I just thought that it's probably some sort of decorations. But I was so wrong! Each square represented each province of Thailand, and each tree was the official province flower!! And they laid out in a map of Thailand shape! sugoiiiii!! xD

Our guides said goodbye to us as they had to report back to their center. So I dragged my friend back to the Flower Carpet XD Too bad, it's dark already *sniffs* but it wouldn't help much either even if it's not dark, as my camera finally gave out and died on me xDD *pets the poor thing* The picture on the right was the last shot I took for this trip ^^

end notes: *looks at this long post* Thank goodness I keep the pamphlet and news clips!!! LOL

That evening, we just went straight from the expo to a massage place, and got a full body massage for 2 hours xDDD, went to eat our first real meal of the day, went back to my friend's place, and passed out. I flew back to Bangkok the next morning. Oh, and my friend went there again with her mum a week later, so she bought me all 5 mascots ^__^ I haven't taken a picture of them yet. And then In January, 3 or 4 more mascot dolls came out, so she had to go to the expo again to get them for me. *loves her* XDD

Good things about going there at the very beginning of the expo are the place was still clean and all flowers were still fresh LOL My family went there a month later, and lots of these pretty flowers were either dead or replaced by some other tropical flowers already ^^" but the downside is some areas were not fully decorated/constructed. But still, I like my timing ^^

One other thing that annoyed me a lot was tourists who didn't follow the rules. I mean, whenever they saw the sign 'Do Not Touch', they tended to reach out and touch whatever it is right away -___- hello~?!

Anyhow, I hope you enjoy this trip to Chiang Mai with me! ^____^

--
